Comparing
September 6, 2017
All people seem to do in life is compare.
This painting shows how all we do is compare. We compare who is better at what. We will either put ourselves at the top, or (more commonly) at the bottom. We either see that our results match what we were pursuing or don't.
But the truth is, neither of these ways are accurate. This is like how you see the world slightly differently from your right eye than your left eye. People do realize this, but they don't realize the second part.
The second part is that everytime you blink, the new image is slightly different than the last. Maybe very little has changed, but something has changed. It may be the amount of weight on each leg, maybe a hair has been moved by the wind, maybe one less grape, but either way, something has always changed and will never be the same.
In conclusion, no matter what I did to try to imitate the other painting, it would not be the same. It is made on a different paper, made from different paint, made by a different person, et cetera. So comparing us to anything is not accurate at all, because everything is always changing.
